Did you know more than 30 million Americans have diabetes and another 84 million US adults have prediabetes, and don’t even know it? Prediabetes is a serious health condition in which blood sugar levels are higher than normal, but not high enough yet to be diagnosed as type 2 diabetes. A person with prediabetes is at high risk of type 2 diabetes, heart disease, and stroke. Better yet, prediabetes is preventable.
Our Diabetes Screen test includes the hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) that measures your average blood sugar level for the past 2 to 3 months. This test also includes a calculation for estimated average glucose (eAG). EAG is a measurement which indicates a person’s average daily blood sugar level. The use of the Hemoglobin A1C with eAG test is endorsed by the American Diabetes Association. An A1c test can help diagnose prediabetes or diabetes.
The Diabetes Screen blood test does NOT require fasting.
